Advanced Diagnostics

In-House Laboratory
In order to give quick results when needed, we have an in-house laboratory. We can run a variety of tests right here at the clinic and can have results within 30 minutes in most cases for complete blood counts, general chemistries, electrolytes, and some urine and fecal tests.

While we do offer an extensive range of on-site testing, it’s possible that your pet may need laboratory work beyond our scope. For those cases, we are happy to send blood work or other testing to an outside lab that will send results back to us.

Digital Radiography (X-rays)
We have digital in-house radiography (also known as X-rays) and the ability to send the images to a board-certified radiologist when needed. Radiographs use electromagnetic radiation directed towards the body to highlight objects within. They can detect abnormalities including skeletal fractures, soft tissue damage, foreign bodies, and dental disease.

Some radiographs require the patient remain completely still, so sedation may be necessary. If so, the duration of sedation is usually short and patient recovery is swift.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a powerful diagnostic tool that creates a real-time image of an animal’s body. This composite reveals important information about internal processes including the circulatory, skeletal, and gastrointestinal systems. When used in conjunction with other diagnostic tools like X-rays, ultrasounds can help identify disease, blockages, soft tissue damage, and other internal injuries.

Completely painless and non-invasive, ultrasounds sometimes require some sedation because the patient must remain completely still. Sometimes, in that in more complicated cases, the animal may need to see an outside ultrasound specialist.
